Rain to move out of Oklahoma Thursday

Parts of Oklahoma could see more rain on Thursday as a storm system exits the region.

According to the National Weather Service, showers and isolated thunderstorms will be possible in eastern sections of the state. Flooding rain was possible in parts of southeastern Oklahoma, the weather service said.

Cloud cover will be slow to erode, helping hold temperatures down below average in most areas.

Warmer conditions are expected by the weekend, but another series of storms could affect Oklahoma at the beginning of next week.

On Wednesday, skies were partly to mostly cloudy as rain began spreading west to east. Daytime highs ranged from 55 degrees in Guymon in the Oklahoma Panhandle to 70 degrees in Enid. The mercury peaked at 65 degrees in Hobart and Oklahoma City, and reached 68 degrees in Lawton and Tulsa.

A flash flood watch will be in effect through Thursday afternoon for McCurtain County in Oklahoma's southeastern tip. Otherwise, skies should be cloudy statewide, with a chance of precipitation in eastern Oklahoma. Temperatures should top out in the 50s and 60s, then dip into the 30s and 40s Thursday night, forecasters said.

Partly sunny skies are expected on Friday. Temperatures should only reach the 50s and 60s for highs.

Clear skies on Saturday will allow temperatures to warm into the 60s and 70s, according to the weather service. Lows in the 30s and 40s are expected Saturday night.

By Sunday, another storm system is forecast to move across the central United States, bringing a slight chance of precipitation to Oklahoma on Sunday and a better chance on Monday.

Temperatures are forecast to reach the 60s and 70s both days for highs. Lows are forecast to reach the 40s and 50s Sunday night and 30s and 40s Monday night.
