Milder, drier days are expected for Oklahoma after another possible round of precipitation on Friday.
The
National Weather Service said cool, stable air will move into the state behind a departing storm system. Some parts of Oklahoma could experience frost or a light freeze Friday night, forecasters said.
On Thursday, severe thunderstorms with heavy rain and high winds rumbled across the state. Daytime highs ranged from 40 degrees in
Guymon to 77 degrees in
McAlester. The mercury peaked at 58 degrees in
Oklahoma City and reached 70 degrees in
Bartlesville,
Muskogee and
Tulsa.
A flash flood watch will remain in effect through Friday morning for
McCurtain County in far southeast Oklahoma. A chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms will linger on Friday as highs reach the 50s and 60s. Lows Friday night are expected to fall into the 30s and 40s.
Sunny skies are likely on Saturday as highs reach the 60s and 70s statewide.
Partly cloudy conditions will be the rule Sunday through Tuesday, according to the weather service. Temperatures are expected to top out in the 60s and 70s on Sunday and Monday. Lows should dip into the 40s on Sunday and into the 30s and 40s Monday night, forecasters said.
Highs in the 60s and lows in the 30s and 40s are expected on Tuesday, the weather service said.
