Problems with student athlete eligibility at Booker T. Washington High School erupted into a full-blown scandal Wednesday afternoon as school district officials announced that the number of students found to be ineligible has reached more than 40 total and even more game forfeitures are necessary.

Superintendent Keith Ballard announced a host of school leadership changes - including the reassignment of Principal Micheal Johnson - at a closed-door, after-school meeting with the high school’s faculty.

Just last week, TPS administrators imposed sanctions against the Booker T. Washington athletics department after an internal investigation found that six student athletes were ineligible because of transfer and recruiting violations. Five school officials - four from the athletic department, as well as Principal Micheal Johnson - were reprimanded.

Compare this to Cascia Hall, Heritage Hall, CHA, OCS, etc... They get away with it but public schools cant. Nice job OSSAA. BTW, what happened to an investigation of Southmoore?

Fire the Superintendent! The problem with district is that the schools in Tulsa plan and simple suck. BTW and Edison are the two schools parents want to send their kids too. If the other HS in the districts had good academics then more than likely you wouldn't have this problem.

HAHAH this is what Booker T. gets for running up the score 90-0 against Miami! The entire staff should be fired! and they need to teach their kids there are more important things than football! what a bunch of idiots.

If I were an alumnus or supporter of BTWashington, I would want Jimmerson, Johnson and Fisher fired. These guys soiled the name of an outstanding institution for academics. For the vast majority of the students, they are there doing their best. It seems when it comes to the athletes, coaches and Administrators that sports goes into a different category. Thirty-seven athletes were supposed to be ineligible. Seven football starters! I wonder if Jimmerson is feeling anywhere near how the Miami players and coaches felt when he was running up the score of 90-0. Disgraceful for a principal and two coaches/AD's to facilitate cheating which is what it was. OSSAA must suspend these three indefinitely or they owe Trimble an apology.

Dave, AD and Jamal were smart enough to work hard in a career that can pay them more in a year than you can dream of. I also find it pretty ironic that someone who lives in the Mid-Del area calls someone else dumb.

mr. d, mustang - Do you personally know any of the children that attend BTW to have come to the conclusion you have? How crass for anyone to talk about children and their families that way. I pray you never have to eat your words.

Didn't Booker T. win 5A last year?
Brandon, edmond - Nov 4, 2009 at 8:03 pm
Southmoore and Union are next.

Wonders what the teachers and coaches were making under the table to keep the A's coming. Just goes to show that sports is more important than education. It's not just at the high school level, it's in the college level to. Just look at Adrian Peterson and Jamal brown. Dumb as a box of rocks but they sure can play football.

What goes around, comes around and for BTW it is just desserts. All in the administration and the coaches should've been fired after running up a 90-0 score earlier this year! Good riddance to a bunch of classless --- "educators?"
