Interesting facts about Nebraska DT Ndamukong Suh:
→ His mother, Bernadette, is from
Jamaica, while his father, Michael, hails from
Cameroon.
→His dad played pro soccer in
Europe; his mother ran track and played cricket.
→Ndamukong means "House of Spears.” "I take a lot of pride in my name,” Suh said.
→He was born in
Portland, Ore., where his parents met.
→Suh’s mother would not let him play football his freshman year of high school. "I had to prove I could handle my schoolwork first,” he said. Suh did, and his mother allowed him play football the following season.
→Suh was actually recruited to Nebraska from Portland by former Sooner head coach and Husker defensive line coach
John Blake, now an assistant at
North Carolina. "My sister went to
Mississippi State and John Blake actually was coaching her boyfriend there. Through my sister, he heard about me, and when he moved to Nebraska recruited me.”
