Rain possible in Oklahoma in a few days

Oklahoma will see a few more warm, dry days before a storm system makes a run at the southern Plains.

The National Weather Service said sunny conditions are forecast for Friday and Saturday. Clouds are expected to move into the state late in the weekend, bringing a slight chance of precipitation.

On Thursday, skies were clear and temperatures ranged from 74 degrees in Clinton and Hobart to 79 degrees in Gage, Guymon and Stillwater. The mercury peaked at 75 degrees in McAlester and Oklahoma City, and reached 77 degrees in Frederick, Guthrie, Lawton, Ponca City and Tulsa.

The fire potential in western Oklahoma and western North Texas will increase as winds pick up out the south, forecasters said.

Daytime highs in the 70s and 80s are expected on Friday and Saturday. Lows should dip into the 40s and 50s.

Temperatures should reach the 70s under partly cloudy skies on Sunday before falling into the 40s and 50s Sunday night.

Increased clouds on Monday will bring a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Temperatures should only reach the 50s and 60s for highs, and lows in the 40s and 50s are expected, the weather service said.

Skies are expected to become partly cloudy on Tuesday, and a slight chance of showers and storms will linger early in the southeast, forecasters said.

Highs should reach the 60s statewide, and range from the 30s in the Panhandle to 40s and 50s elsewhere Tuesday night.
