Accident fatal for Okmulgee man

BEGGS – An Okmulgee man died in a Friday evening accident west of Beggs in Okmulgee County.

Henry Young, 59, was driving on State Highway 16 west of Beggs at 5 p.m. when his car traveled left of center and struck a tractor trailer driven by William Merchant, 29, of Preston, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.

Young died at the scene. Merchant was treated at the scene for minor injuries, troopers said.

Young and Merchant were wearing seat belts.
