1 lane of US101 reopens in Clallam County, Wash.

PORT ANGELES, Wash. (AP) — The Washington Transportation Department says U.S. Highway 101 has reopened to one lane of alternating traffic at a spot along Lake Crescent in Clallam County.

The lane reopened Thursday evening.

A rockslide Wednesday caused the road to be closed until a geologist could assess the area.

The location is the site of an Olympic National Park project to stabilize a rocky hillside.

The Transportation Department says the park's contractor has resumed the rock-scaling work and the road will remain reduced to one lane until the construction project is complete.
