EDMOND — A $1 million grant from the AT&T Foundation to the University of Central Oklahoma will help solve cases in the ever-expanding arena of cyber crimes.

AT&T and university officials announced today that the money will go to the university's Forensic Science Institute to build a cyber crime lab. The AT&T Digital Evidence and Cyber Security Lab will provide a high-tech resource for law enforcement agencies.

"Criminals are becoming even more sophisticated," said Dwight E. Adams, institute director.

Crews are set to break ground in April on the new Forensic Science Institute on the university campus. It will be constructed at Garland Godfrey and Second Street, across the street from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation Forensic Science Center.

University students and law enforcement agents also will have the chance to learn from the work done in the lab, Adams said.

Don Cain, AT&T Oklahoma president said at a press conference earlier today, that company officials are excited to help with the donation.

"We very much believe in education and what education can do for society," Cain said.
