The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the boy, Andrew Marquez, was a passenger in a vehicle driven by 22-year-old Itzel Rios of McAlester when the accident occurred about 4:55 p.m. on Saturday.

Troopers say the SUV went off the roadway and hit a drainage ditch. The SUV rolled twice and came to rest on its wheels, with Andrew being thrown about 10 feet from the vehicle.

The boy died at the scene. Rios and another passenger, 19-year-old Luisanna Rios, were taken to a Tulsa hospital in stable condition.

Two other passengers, 23-year-old Quentin Marquez and 4-year-old Felipe Marquez III, were not injured.
