10 UCO students selected to join national honor society

Ten University of Central Oklahoma students qualified for the school’s chapter of Order of Omega, a national honor society recognizing the top 3 percent of Greek students nationwide.

Members are selected based on character, scholarships, participation in their fraternity or sorority and service to the community and university.

The new members are: Melisa Banks of Ardmore, Alpha Xi Delta; Lindsay Armstrong of Choctaw, Alpha Xi Delta; Tyler Francis of Shawnee, Pi Kappa Alpha; Monta Johnson of Prague, Alpha Xi Delta; Latashia Knighten of Midwest City, Delta Zeta; Jarrod Sandra of Marlow, Sigma Nu; Michael Shellabarger of Okeene, Pi Kappa Alpha; Daniel Stockton of Tulsa, Pi Kappa Alpha; Diontrey Thompson of Lawton, Alpha Phi Alpha; and Brandy Woodward of Ramona, Delta Zeta.

"Order of Omega is a great way to recognize some of our best and brightest students,” said Jessica Schwab, Assistant Director of Greek Life and Student Organizations.

Jordan Smith, coordinator of Campus Activities and Events and alumnus of Acacia fraternity, and Lyndsay Holder, Volunteer and Service Learning Center volunteer coordinator and alumna of Sigma Kappa sorority, were selected to join as alumni initiates.
