CHANHASSEN, Minn. (AP) — Young actors from across Minnesota are getting a chance to appear onstage at Chanhassen Dinner Theatres.

One-hundred high school students have been selected to appear in Chanhassen's third annual "StarKid" event. The students will get a chance to appear onstage in "Bye Bye Birdie" alongside the cast from Jan. 22 through Feb. 28.

Chanhassen Dinner Theatres president and artistic director Michael Brindisi (brin-DEE'-see) has assigned the students to shadow actors in the professional acting company, both backstage and onstage. Students will get their own dressing rooms and have publicity photos taken for their hometown papers.

Fifty schools registered for the event, with each sending two students. A total of four students will appear in each production on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings as well as Wednesday matinees.
