FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) — University of Arkansas senior Sebastian Cappelen's run at the 113th U.S. Amateur Championship has come to an end.
Cappelen lost to No. 15 seed Charlie Hughes Thursday in the second round of match play at The Country Club in Brookline, Mass.
Cappelen began his offseason following an SEC Individual Championship with a third straight trip to the Palmer Cup in June to represent Team Europe. Two weeks ago, Cappelen qualified for match play at the 111th Western Amateur Championship and advanced to the semifinals.
A three-time PING All-American and two-time All-SEC first team honoree, Cappelen enters his senior campaign with the Razorbacks as one of the most decorated players in program history. He is currently the all-time leader with a 72.0 stroke average over 36 tournaments.
