13 for '13 series: IR Blake Jackson comes in at No. 10 on countdown of Oklahoma State's most important players

Continuing our series looking at Oklahoma State’s most important players for the 2013 season:

No. 10: Blake Jackson, inside receiver

Perhaps no player on the Oklahoma State roster can create greater physical mismatches than Jackson, a 6-3, 235-pound specimen at inside receiver.

He just needs to catch the dang football.

Drops were a major issue for Jackson in his first OSU season in 2012, most notably on two would-have-been touchdowns in the Cowboys’ seven-point loss to Baylor to close the regular season.

But when Jackson did hold onto the ball, he became an instant big-play threat in the middle of the field, leading OSU with 19.9 yards per catch and ranking second on the team with 598 receiving yards on 30 receptions.

Jackson promised he worked hard on improving his hands during the offseason and has often studied film with OSU’s leading receiver, Josh Stewart. Jackson also needs to improve his route-running and overall consistency, two areas where the former tight end should be expected to progress in his second season in the program since transferring from junior college.

The OSU receiving corps is obviously loaded. But if Jackson can become a truly reliable option in 2013, he could quickly morph into one of the conferences more dangerous offensive weapons.

Here’s our countdown so far:
13. Jake Jenkins, center
12. J.W. Walsh, quarterback
11. Shaun Lewis, linebacker
10. Blake Jackson, inside receiver
