COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina's leading hitter Kyle Martin says he'll play one last season with the Gamecocks.

Martin was among seven South Carolina juniors taken last week in the Major League Baseball draft. Martin was selected in the 20th round by the Angels and coach Chad Holbrook said his first baseman was torn about what to do.

On Wednesday, Martin said he was not ready to leave college and would return to South Carolina.

Martin led the Gamecocks and was seventh in the Southeastern Conference with a .336 batting average.

The decision means South Carolina will have three fourths of its infield back with Martin, second baseman Max Schrock and shortstop Marcus Mooney.

The rest of South Carolina's juniors are all expected to sign pro contracts.
