NORMAN — Ryan Broyles dug the Sooners out of a 1st-and-20 hole by scoring on a short pass from 38 yards away late in the third quarter, but a pair of penalties put the Sooners in an even deeper hole they later escaped from.

Broyles was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct on the play and the touchdown was called back because of a holding penalty, putting the Sooners in a near-impossible 1st-and-45 at their own 37-yard line.
DeMarco Murray had a three-yard run and an 18-yard reception in the flat before quarterback Landry Jones gave Broyles a chance to atone for his earlier mistake.
The sophomore receiver caught a short pass on 3rd-and-24, making a trio of Kansas State players miss, and sprinting down the right sideline, making it just past the first down marker for a 25-yard gain.
"I thought he had a chance," Stoops said. "As soon as he caught it, I started yelling, 'Make 'em miss!" and sure enough, he does."
