$20M Oklahoma jury award cap is sufficient, study says
Oklahoma jurors awarded about $18.7 million in noneconomic damages in medical malpractice cases in the past four years, an informal study of court cases shows.
The review of 52 verdicts shows an annual cap of $20 million for a fund to pay awards above a $400,000 noneconomic cap should be enough, said a local financial consultant who offered his company’s work to the Health Care Indemnity Fund Task Force.
