UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) — Fire officials have been called to Six Flags America in Maryland after a roller coaster became stuck with 24 people on the ride.
Prince George's County Fire officials were called to The Joker's Jinx roller coaster at the park just before 2:30 p.m. Sunday after it became stuck. There are no reported injuries. Assistant Fire Chief Paul Gomez says it will likely take a few hours to get the riders off the coaster and that the car the riders are in is currently sitting upright near the top of the ride.
A Six Flags America spokesman said in an e-mailed statement that it is not yet clear what caused the ride to stop but that the ride has a "sophisticated, computerized safety system" that "performed as it is designed to."
