Three of the seven GOP candidates vying for a soon-to-be-vacant U.S. Senate seat are scheduled to headline a tea party-backed rally at the state Capitol.
Former Oklahoma House Speaker T.W. Shannon, former state Sen. Randy Brogdon and U.S. Rep. James Lankford will speak at Saturday’s event in Oklahoma City. The rally is being sponsored by the Tea Party Express.
Three Democrats and an independent candidate are also in the race to replace U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn, who is stepping down early.
Shannon is coming off a Thursday rally in Tulsa that was headlined by former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and U.S. Sens. Ted Cruz of Texas and Mike Lee of Utah. Brogdon and Lankford also have touted their conservative credentials on their campaign stops.
The GOP primary is June 24.
