MADILL — A man who pleaded no contest to three counts of first-degree murder in Marshall County has been sentenced to life in prison without parole.

District Judge Wallace Coppedge handed down the three life sentences Wednesday to 23-year-old Joshua David Scott. A local newspaper reports that the three sentences are to run consecutively.

Scott pleaded no contest in October in the deaths of Chad Page and Ashleigh Lindsey. Prosecutors added a third murder charge because Lindsey was pregnant at the time of her death.

Authorities say Scott fatally shot Page, who was the ex-boyfriend of Scott's mother.

Afterward, according to authorities, Scott picked up Joshua Mahaffey and went to Lindsey's home. Authorities say Mahaffey shot Lindsey, then killed himself. Lindsey died at a hospital and her fetus did not survive.
