4 Rutgers FB players named to NFF Honor Society

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) — Four Rutgers football players have been honored by the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame for academics.

The foundation announced on Friday that punter Justin Doerner, defensive backs Duron Harmon and Brandon Jones and defensive tackle Scott Vallone were named to the 2013 NFF Hampshire Honor Society.

The society is comprised of college football players from all divisions who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college career. A total of 703 players from 259 schools qualified for membership in the society's seventh year, marking the highest school participation in the history of the program, which began in 2007.

Harmon was a third round draft pick of the New England Patriots while Jones signed as a free agent with the Patriots.
