41 animals seized from pet-rescue activist in Sand Springs

SAND SPRINGS — Even though police seized the animals from her house this week, a pet-rescue activist says she hopes to find permanent homes for nearly 50 cats and dogs.

Police said they obtained a search warrant for a house in the 100 block of N Roosevelt Avenue and took away 41 cats and eight dogs Tuesday morning.

Tammy Willemstein, who runs a small nonprofit called Furry Companions, cooperated with the search and even helped round up the pets, officials said.

She found most of the animals as strays, while others were abandoned in front of her house.
