$50 million Shawnee propositions fail

Voters in Shawnee soundly rejected almost $50 million in proposed city projects Tuesday.

The five propositions were for a half-cent sales tax for 10 years and an estimated 12 percent increase in property taxes for the next 20 years.

None of the propositions received more than 25 percent approval. The projects included a $19 million regional sports complex and $13 million in road improvements.
