$53K in NH wildlife grants awarded

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — The Wildlife Heritage Foundation of New Hampshire has awarded $53,200 in grants to the Fish and Game Department.

Successful grant proposals include two research projects. Biologist Kevin Sullivan will study the passage of river herring over the breached Wadleigh Falls dam on the Lamprey River in Lee. Another biologist, Joshua Carloni, will map and track pregnant lobsters in state waters.

Grants also were awarded to build a mobile education trailer for the agency's Operation Game Thief Program, for the Orphan Bear Cub Rehabilitation Program, for an education pavilion for the Great Bay Discovery Center in Greenland and for educational kiosks in the Connecticut Lakes Natural Area. Grant money also will underwrite the 2013 North American Moose Conference in Whitefield and the 2013 National Hunting and Fishing Day Expo in Concord.
