EDMOND — The Fine Arts Institute will hold its annual 5K to Monet on Aug. 23.
The event includes a 5k race at 8 a.m. and one-mile family fun run at 8:10 a.m. The race begins and ends near the lifelike sculpture of Claude Monet sitting in the front garden of the Fine Arts Institute, 27 E Edwards.
The name and event combine the love of running and the arts.
“There are not many runs that take place in downtown Edmond and on streets where fabulous public art is displayed on almost every corner,” said Darin Kent, chairman of the event. “Starting and finishing close to the sculpture of Claude Monet at the Fine Arts Institute showcases our outstanding facility and the great experiences our classes and camps offer.”
There is a fee of $25 for the 5k run and $15 for the family fun run with T-shirt included, $10 for the family fun run without T-shirts. Kids and families can run or walk the one-mile course.
Registration can be completed at the Fine Arts Institute or online. Registrations must be received by Aug. 15 to guarantee T-shirt size.
Registration fees the day of the race are $30 for the 5k and $15 for the family fun run. T-shirts are included with preregistration only.
Medals will be awarded to the top runners in standard age groups.
Proceeds from 5K to Monet go toward operational costs at the Fine Arts Institute to help keep tuition and fees affordable for all ages in the community.
Information on the run and online registration is available at edmondfinearts.com. The race distance is measured for USA Track and Field certification. The race will abide by the organization’s rules.
Healthy food will be available after the race. A water station will be at the half-point mark.
