A 6-year-old girl died Thursday after she was hit by a car while walking on State Highway 48 in Coleman, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

About noon, Ruth McGraw, 67, of Norman, was driving south on the highway in Johnston County when her vehicle struck Terrin Barrett, 6, of Coleman. It wasn’t immediately clear why the girl was walking on the highway.
