71-year-old man fatally shot outside of Boise City convenience store

A 71-year-old man was gunned down outside a convenience store in the Panhandle Wednesday afternoon, and the shooter has not been captured, authorities said.

About 1 p.m., Charles Nieman was getting out of his pickup at the Loaf ‘n Jug, on the corner of E Main and Locust Avenue, when he was shot, Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Jessica Brown said. Nieman's wife was inside the pickup when he was shot, she said.

Nieman, a Woods County resident, was taken to a local hospital where he died, Brown said.

OSBI was asked to assist by Boise City police, and both agencies are working numerous leads in the case, she said.
