Vinita man dies in three-car wreck
VINITA — A 71-year-old Vinita man died Tuesday after his sports car was struck by another vehicle that had crossed the centerline just east of Vinita on U.S. 60. Lenvil Lee Dunn was eastbound on the highway about 1:50 p.m. when a pickup driven by an Afton woman crossed the centerline and struck his Chevrolet Corvette. Dunn's car then crossed into oncoming traffic, where it was struck by a tractor trailer headed in the opposite direction. According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Dunn died at the scene. He was pinned in his vehicle for about 35 minutes. The driver of the pickup, 62-year-old Connie Clark, was treated for a head injury at a hospital and released. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured. A report issued by the patrol states that all three drivers were wearing seat belts. The cause of the accident, including an explanation as to why Clark crossed over the centerline, is still under investigation.
