An Oklahoma City mother was charged Monday with child neglect after neighbors found her 3-year-old son wandering around the parking lot of their apartment complex with beer in his bottle.
Rose Adame, 32, was so intoxicated she could not stand June 21 when police arrived at her apartment complex at 2149 SW 38, according to court papers. She still tried to grab the beer-filled baby bottle so she could continue drinking, court papers say. She was unresponsive when paramedics arrived to evaluate her son, Detective Kerry Robinson wrote in an affidavit. She stopped breathing en route to a local hospital because she was so intoxicated. Adame later told police she had been sick and drank about a dozen beers that day, starting at 9 a.m., Robinson wrote. Two neighbors spotted Adame’s son wandering unsupervised in the parking lot, Robinson wrote. They told police they thought he had beer in his bottle, which was confirmed by the first officer on the scene. Adame faces up to life in prison and a $5,000 fine if convicted. Jay F.
