Oklahoma County sheriff says reserve deputies are essential to department

“Bottom line is we wouldn’t be able to do our job of protecting our citizens were it not for the reserve deputies that we have,” said Oklahoma County Sheriff John Whetsel, who despite an annual budget approaching $32 million said budget restrictions keep him from adequately staffing his department with full-time deputies.
