Once upon a time, a girl, a boy and two cats created a blog. The girl: a graphic designer and quirky fashionista. The boy: an electrical engineer with an unusually acute sense of style. The cats: Mr. Scooty Boots and Dinahsaur, garden variety. The result: Oklahoma blogosphere's best-kept secret, jeremyandkathleen.blogspot.com.

If ever a cuter indie couple existed, I've yet to meet them. I like to think of the couple as a younger, cuter and hipper version of my husband and me.

Kathleen and Jeremy Shannon started their blog two years ago while shopping for a home. The blog evolved to document the home renovations they undertook after finding their home in the Central Park neighborhood of Oklahoma City.

It was Kathleen's oddball sense of style that prompted friends and co-workers to goad her into photographing her outfits every morning and posting them on the blog.

"I get dressed based on my mood and how I'm feeling," she said. "If I need to feel like a badass, I dress like a badass. Sometimes I'm all Oklahoma hippie. Or like, I want to dress like an airline pilot. I just get really silly and have fun with it."

Since she was a kid, Kathleen's fashion sense has fallen into the "I could never pull that off" category.

Jeremy's more structured, as engineers tend to be. He has stacks of sweaters, stacks of T-shirts and stacks of jeans and pants.

"He just rotates them out," Kathleen said.

Now, each morning, whether they feel like it or not, the two take turns standing in their sunny little eat-in kitchen, photographing each other to post on the site, under the "J+K What We Wear" tab, complete with detailed descriptions of that day's wardrobe.

Next came the recipes. She's a vegetarian, and he's a de facto vegetarian (a carnivore whose wife, and primary household chef, is a vegetarian). She has taken to posting photos and recipes of the various meat-free dishes she concocts.
