Andres Duany and a team of 15 from his Duany Plater-Zyberk & Co., lead the charrette to design and plan Humphreys Co.'s project, Carlton Landing, on Lake Eufaula, last week in Oklahoma City. Here is a summary:
•July 15 — Opening presentation at the Skirvin Hilton Hotel to the general public (100 plus in attendance) after client meetings. •July 16 — DPZ and Humphreys team traveled to Lake Eufaula to tour the site on the ground and from the water, then returned through Norman and Guthrie to tour Oklahoma architecture for inspiration. •Thursday — Met with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality and other government agencies to discuss Carlton Landing. Design in studio at Oklahoma City National Memorial, sketching, computer modeling, group discussions. •Friday — Design in studio at Oklahoma City National Memorial. •Saturday — Design in studio in morning. Pin-up review and public presentation of preliminary designs in afternoon. •Sunday — Verification that working plans were appropriate to the site. Design in studio. •Monday — Design in studio in morning. Production of sketches, models, concepts in afternoon. •Tuesday — Final production all day.
