A Closer Look at The Rise

If Uptown 23rd is to become the vibrant retail corridor it was in its glory days 40 years ago, a shrinking to do list must be checked off one by one. The elimination of angled parking a decade ago is now appearing to have been a huge mistake by the planning department. Pedestrians must be considered as  part of a re-imagining of the street.

The Tower Theatre, purchased by Marty Dillon in 2006, must come back to life. And the big blighted shopping center at NW 23 and Walker – also the gateway to Paseo – must be re-imagined.

In today’s Oklahoman, we have great news on The Rise and potentially good news with the Tower Theatre. Dillon says he’s ready to start work on the theater, while Johnathan Russell, developer of The Rise, gave The Oklahoma the scoop on his tenant mix. The shopping center is about to become a huge boost to Uptown.
