Winter is almost here! I know this not because it’s cold out, but instead because everyone has the flu. No matter the ache that ails you, there is a good chance you wont be able to make it outdoors.

Don’t feel sad, because here is the Girl vs. Wild list of amazing outdoor adventure books.
"Into the Wild” is a book I discovered while back in college, and then reread before the movie’s release in October 2007. This book follows the story of a young Christopher McCandless, whom after graduating college decided to give up all his worldly possessions and slowly remove himself from society, ultimately to live in the Alaskan wilderness and become Alexander Supertramp.
"A Walk in the Woods” is by far the funniest adventure book ever! It’s a laugh-out-loud account of the author Bryson and his longtime friend Katz and their attempt to hike the Appalachian Trail. This duo quickly realized they were extremely underprepared and out of shape.
"Deep Survival: Who Lives, Who Dies, and Why” is the book that asks why! After her plane crashes, a seventeen-year-old girl spends eleven days walking through the Peruvian jungle. With no food, shelter or gear, she gets out. The book recounts stories of how people get into trouble and get out, or sometimes not.
