Oklahoma pregame: The Sooners have a get-well game today
NORMAN — With apologies to LeGarrette Blount’s fist, the University of Oklahoma might have had the worst season debut in college football.
Before the season, four NFL prospects with first-round aspirations returned to Norman bent on finishing the season with a crystal football, commemorating the Sooners’ eighth national title that had eluded them in January. Three made it to opening night. Two made it through opening night. A game against an opponent like Idaho State couldn’t have come at a better time. All-America tight end Jermaine Gresham will not play this season, thanks to torn cartilage in his knee, and he could even miss the NFL Combine in February. Sooner fans won’t see Heisman winner Sam Bradford’s injured shoulder complete another pass for perhaps a month.
