LONGEST NBA WINNING STREAKS
33 — Los Angeles Lakers: The streak began the 10th game of the season, which also was the first game after Hall of Famer Elgin Baylor had retired. These world champion Lakers still had Hall of Famers in Wilt Chamberlain, Jerry West and Gail Goodrich. They won every game in November, December and the first two games in January. The streak ended with a 120-104 loss on the road to the 35-8 Milwaukee Bucks and future Lakers great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who had 39 points.
25 — Miami Heat: The Heat streak began Feb. 3 and endures thanks to a handful of remarkable comebacks, which included overcoming a 27-point deficit at Cleveland last Wednesday, plus survival missions against bad teams. Miami was 29-14 when the streak began and now stands 54-14 heading into Sunday's home game against the Charlotte Bobcats. However, more than half (13) of the Heat's victories during the streak have come against teams not expected to make the playoffs.
22 — Houston Rockets: The Rockets went unbeaten from Jan. 29 to March 18 in 2008, which came during s stretch when they won 26 of 27. This streak often is forgotten because Houston was just 20-19 when the run began and center Yao Ming was lost to injury for the season on Feb. 24. The Rockets ended the regular season with a 55-27 record, finished third in the Southwest Division behind New Orleans and San Antonio and were a first-round exit after losing 4-2 to the Utah Jazz.
