RH Jose Cisnero
Not as highly hyped as some of the Astros' other pitching prospects, but Cisnero has electric stuff. The past three seasons the Dominican Republic native has posted 29 wins, recorded 426 strikeouts in 404 innings and held opponents to a .242 average.
RH Jarred Cosart
Obtained from the Phillies in the Hunter Pence trade before the 2011 trading deadline, Cosart is the No. 4 prospect in the Astros system. Cosart's fastball averages 94 to 97 mph. He has hit 100 mph. Last season, Cosart posted a 3.31 ERA, most of his innings in Double-A.
RH John Ely
Ely went 14-7 with a 3.20 ERA last season and was named the Pacific League Pitcher of the Year with Albuquerque. A control pitcher with a low 90s mph fastball, Ely pitched 100 innings for the Dodgers in 2010.
LH Kyle Hallock
A 10th-round draft pick out of Kent State two years ago, opponents batted .376 off Hallock last season, but he posted a 2.63 ERA in 11 starts in his debut season after signing quickly.
RH Jordan Lyles
Reaching the majors at a young age, Lyles made 25 starts last season with the Astros, going 5-12 with a 5.09 ERA in Houston. A hard thrower, Lyles could quickly earn a promotion if he can get off to a fast start.
LH Brett Oberholtzer
A durable innings eater. A former eighth round draft pick by the Braves, Oberholtzer has compiled 81 starts the past three seasons in the Astros system, going 27-30 with a 4.07 ERA.
LH Rudy Owens
Acquired in a mid-season trade with the Pirates last July, Owens was 10-8 with a 3.48 ERA last year in Triple-A. A finesse pitcher, Owens can hit his spots. He's averaged less than 30 walks a season during his six years in the minors.
RH Ross Seaton
Selected in the third round in 2008 out of high school, the Tulsa native grew up in the Houston area. Seaton was 8-9 with a 3.93 ERA last season, the bulk of his innings in Double-A before a late season promotion to Oklahoma City.
LH Kevin Chapman
Acquired in a trade with Kansas City a year ago, Chapman went 6-3 with a 2.64 ERA last year in Double-A. A fourth round pick in 2010 out of the University of Florida, Chapman was a mid-season Texas League All-Star.
RH C.J. Fick
Acquired off waivers midway through last season Fick pitched in 20 major league games last season, 18 with the Astros, two with the Cardinals. Since he was moved full time to the bullpen three years ago, Fick has posted a 3.56 ERA.
LH Wes Musick
A ninth-round pick out of the University of Houston four years ago, Musick pitched at three levels last season, posting a 3.04 ERA. Musick has started 40 games but also has spent some time in the bullpen.
RH Jose Valdez
The RedHawks' returning closer. The Dominican Republic native has recorded a franchise-record 30 saves for the RedHawks. Valdez compiled 21 saves last season and already has two saves this season.
RH Josh Zeid
A converted starter, last year was his first entire season as a reliever. Zeid struck out 66 in 561/3 innings but had a 5.59 ERA in Double-A. He made three appearances with Team Israel during the 2013 World Baseball Classic qualifying.
