A quick guide to No. 16 Midwest City at No. 4 Edmond Santa Fe

by Jacob Unruh Modified: September 5, 2013 at 1:15 pm •  Published: September 5, 2013

When: 7 p.m., Thursday

Where: Wantland Stadium, Edmond

Player to watch: Midwest City — Tyquae Russell, LB. The Bombers’ defense has looked really strong in the preseason, and Russell leads the way. He’ll need to have a big game against the many offensive weapons of Edmond Santa Fe.

Edmond Santa Fe — Cameron Westbrook, RB/DB. The senior has looked explosive during the preseason and is expected to get the start at running back. With quarterback Justice Hansen being a little banged up, Westbrook could be in for a big game.

Storylines: Midwest City — The Bombers are coming off a disappointing season and need to get off to a fast start. Offensively, there are question marks, and it starts at the quarterback battle.

Edmond Santa Fe — The Wolves enter this season with a lot of pressure to live up to high expectations. Hansen being banged up doesn’t help anything. Still, the Wolves are looking to show their secondary is rebuilt, their offensive line is improved and they can handle that pressure.

The pick: Edmond Santa Fe 24, Midwest City 17
