The Orange is a group that actually gets zoned-in on outscoring people.
Syracuse’s vaunted defense ranked just 13th in the 16-team Big East Conference this season. Meanwhile, the Orange led the league in scoring, shooting and assists.
Oklahoma’s biggest concern tonight might be how to stop the Syracuse offense, not how to attack its much-discussed defense.
There is a good chance today’s 6:27 p.m. NCAA South Regional semifinal contest inside the FedExForum could become an old-fashioned shootout.
"We just try to outscore people,” said Orange sophomore point guard Jonny Flynn. "We have so many weapons on the court at one time. We have two deadly shooters, and we have enough guys on our team who can get in the middle, penetrate and make plays for other people.
"I think that’s what really makes us so effective on the offensive end.”
Syracuse has five players averaging in double figures.
