AARP, Postal Service join forces against scams
ARDMORE -- An offer for a supply of vitamins was supposed to cost $5. But by the time this shady deal was stopped, it had cost the victim almost $220.
This is just one of many such scams being used on elderly people, which has lead AARP to join forces with the United States Postal Service to help potential victims.
TV station KTEN in Ada reports that Federal Trade Commission numbers show that these scams could be costing elderly Americans about $1 billion each year.
AARP and the Postal Service want to educate the elderly on how to avoid being caught up in one of these scams.
