Abuse of disability programs costs others

I congratulate U.S. Rep. James Lankford, R-Oklahoma City, and other elected officials who are attempting to eliminate or at least reduce waste, fraud and abuse in our welfare programs. I understand Katherine Boettcher's frustrations (Your Views, Dec. 6) over not winning all of her cases in obtaining disability compensation for her clients. However, is it justified to pay those persons who falsely make claims of disability? Must we continue to increase entitlements solely for the benefit of the few at our expense?

Recently I notified Veterans Affairs of a person receiving compensation under false claims. VA told me it wasn't interested in investigating individuals. So it would seem that those not granted a free ride are really in the minority.
