MILAN (AP) — AC Milan says Japan forward Keisuke Honda will join the club in January from CSKA Moscow and will wear No. 10.

It has long been reported that Honda would arrive in the winter transfer window, and on Wednesday Milan vice president Adriano Galliani says "now we can talk. From the 3rd of January 2014 Keisuke Honda will be a Milan player."

Honda, who arrives on a free transfer, may not feature in Milan's first match after the winter break, at home to Atalanta.

Galliani adds "things are difficult as he is a non-EU player, I don't know if he will be able to play already on Jan. 6 ... at the latest he will make his debut away at Sassuolo."

CSKA was eliminated from the Champions League on Tuesday.
