Norman academic team qualifies for nationals

NORMAN — Norman North High School’s academic team has qualified for a national tournament May 28-30 in Chicago.

The team placed third Saturday in the Oklahoma Quiz Bowl Alliance Tulsa Fall Challenge at the University of Tulsa, competing against teams from Oklahoma, Texas and Arkansas, which qualifies them for the national tournament.

Team members are Amy Wade, Alex Ruggiers, Jake Flanagan, Faith Bowman, Ben Zhou and Kehinde Asojo. Coaches are Teresa McIntyre and Eric Bell.

During the 2010 High School National Championship Tournament, Norman North will compete against 192 teams from around the world.

The next tournament is Nov. 17 at Norman High School.
