TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Syracuse athletic director Daryl Gross wants a change to the Atlantic Coast Conference's current eight-game league schedule and ACC officials will discuss the possibility during meetings in late January.

The Associated Press obtained an email from Gross to the league that said the current format puts certain programs at a disadvantage because of the large time gap between road games against cross-division teams. The Orange, for example, will not play in Atlanta against Georgia Tech until 2027. Gross wants shorter time periods in between games in the major markets like Atlanta, Boston, Miami.

One Gross suggestion is to go to a nine-game conference schedule.

The current format dictates annual intra-division games, one cross-division game against the same opponent and rotating home-and-away games against the remaining teams from the opposite division.
