Activities set for National Day of Prayer on Thursday

Several activities and prayer events are planned for the National Day of Prayer, plus an alternative event for the interfaith community also will be held in Oklahoma City.

• National Day of Prayer Service, 7 to 8 p.m., Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, 2717 W Hefner Road.

• National Day of Prayer Observance, a come-and-go event, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., First Baptist Church of Mustang, 928 N Mustang Road, Mustang.

• Kingfisher Communitywide Youth Rally, 6:30 to 8 p.m., 1500 S 13 St., Kingfisher. Dennis Burbank will be guest speaker. Sandwiches, chips and drinks will be served.

• Purcell National Day of Prayer Service, noon to 1 p.m. Santa Fe Plaza in downtown Purcell; sponsored by the Heartland Ministerial Alliance.

• Midwest City National Day of Prayer Service, 1 to 2 p.m., 200 Midwest Boulevard, Midwest City.

• “Interfaith Day of Reflection,” 7 p.m., Temple B'nai Israel, 4901 N Pennsylvania. Keynote speaker is Rabbi Vered Harris with Temple B'nai Israel. Rabbi Abby Jacobson will serve as moderator and panelists will include people of other faiths including Buddhism and Christianity. The program, sponsored by the Interfaith Alliance Foundation of Oklahoma, will include the annual ringing of the bells to honor various faith traditions. For more information, call the Rev.
