ADA -- Pontotoc County has given the City of Ada a gift: more streets.

In a quick, 20-minute meeting, The Ada News reports, county commissioners voted unanimously to the move transferring ownership of some roads the county had maintained.

To do so, the roads now are considered city streets and maintenance shifts to the city.

“Whereas the Pontotoc County Board of Commissioners grant ownership of the following county roads, which lie within or adjacent to the city of Ada be deemed 'city streets,'" commissioners said in their notice to the city.

"Therefore, the following said roads (including easements) will be considered property of the city of Ada.”

The list included 5.2 miles of roadway.

You can read the list, plus additional information on the transfer.
