Teenager Jordon Elsey came off the bench to score an injury time goal which gave eighth-placed Adelaide a 2-1 win over leaders Brisbane in the weekend's 14th round of Australian football's A-League.

The 19-year-old Elsey had been playing on loan at the Hong Kong club Kitchee FC and was close to sealing a season-long deal when he was recalled by Adelaide which was hit by a spate of injuries.

Elsey's headed goal in the 91st minute of only his third A-League match clinched Adelaide's fourth win of the season and cut Brisbane's lead to four points over the Western Sydney Wanderers who beat Sydney FC 1-0, also with a late goal.

Brendon Santalab scored the winner in the 87th, clinching the Wanderers' third derby win over Sydney FC in four meetings since they joined the A-League last season.
