Adrian Peterson Day will have different feel June 21 Published: June 3, 2014

Adrian Peterson Day has become a yearly tradition in the former OU running back's hometown of Palestine, Texas.

This year will be a little different, however. Unlike previous years, the eighth Adrian Peterson Day won't have a parade.

The parade will return in 2015. This year, the June 21 event will be about health.

“We’re going to have free screening for high-blood pressure, an eye clinic, a dental clinic," said Carol Pegues, cousin of Peterson and founder of the event. “We’re going to have information on where people can go if they’re homeless. It’s going to be more serious. It’s going to be a health fair. The parade will return next year."

Peterson is still expected to give a speech to his fans.
