A Sonic Drive-In carhop who was robbed Monday in Oklahoma City was back on the job Wednesday, her mother said.
The victim, who turned 17 on Tuesday, was not hurt. Her mother, reached by telephone Wednesday, said her daughter was shaken by the incident but had returned to work. The victim was not available for comment.
The robber walked to a vehicle stall at the restaurant at 9300 N Rockwell Ave. and ordered a drink about 9:35 p.m. Monday, according to a police report released Wednesday.
When the carhop brought out his order, she saw him walking toward the back of the building, she told police.
"Is this your order? Do you want your drink?” she said.
When she got to the back of the business, the robber told her, "Give me all your money,” she told police.
She gave him the paper money out of her apron and also the changer that contained coins, she said. At some point during the robbery the robber brandished a black handgun, but the reporting officer said she was visibly shaken and couldn’t remember at what point that happened.
Sonic Corp. released a statement Wednesday night, saying "Sonic carhops carry only minimal amounts of cash. Sonic’s cash handling procedures require carhops to deposit excess funds on a regular basis. The carhop involved in the incident adhered to Sonic’s cash handling procedures.”
The police report describes the robber as a clean-shaven black man about 19 years old with short hair, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and jeans.
