"Afterlife with Archie" issue 1 sells out

by Matthew Price Published: October 9, 2013
Archie Comics has announced it has sold out of “Afterlife with Archie” No. 1, a new book that mixes zombie horror with the classic Archie Comics characters.
The book is created by Harvey award-winning writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Stephen King’s The Stand) and Eisner award-winning artist Francesco Francavilla (Guardians of the Galaxy).
According to Archie Comics, Afterlife with Archie explores what would happen if the zombie apocalypse began in Archie’s hometown of Riverdale.
“Working with Roberto and Francesco on Afterlife has been an incredible experience,” said Archie Comics Publisher/co-CEO Jon Goldwater in a news release.  “Our expectations at Archie are always extremely high but the work they’ve done in bringing Afterlife with Archie alive has exceeded them. Thank you to all the retailers and fans for supporting Archie’s first ever direct market only comic book.”
Aguirre-Sacasa is also scripting the upcoming live-action Archie Comics film.
“Afterlife with Archie” is more mature than the regular, all-ages Archie line.  The book isn’t distributed on newsstands, but is available in the comics specialty market.  The book is suggested for teen and above audiences.
