The sold-out first issue of “Afterlife with Archie” will get a second printing, featuring a brand-new cover by artist Franco Francavilla.
The ongoing series, featuring a zombie invasion of Riverdale and intended for teen audiences, is written by Harvey award winning writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Stephen King’s The Stand) and Eisner award winning artist Francesco Francavilla (Black Beetle).
The comic book sold out in less than 5 hours at Diamond Comic Distributors, according to a news release from Archie. That’s the fastest-selling Archie comic of all time, according to the Archie Comics news release. The series is Archie’s first direct-market exclusive series, meaning it can be found in print primarily at comics and specialty shops. The series features a darker, horror-inspired take on the Archie characters.
Writer Aguirre-Sacasa is also the screenwriter for the upcoming “Archie” live-action film.
